In our US state leaderboard series, we look at the law firms with largest partner headcount and strongest recent headcount growth in each US state. Here are the firms leading the way in the Pennsylvania legal market.

Pennsylvania growth lands in the middle tier of US legal markets of a similar size, having seen modest growth in Partner headcount at +1.1%.

While Pennsylvania outpaced regional neighbors like New Jersey (+0.6%), Ohio (+0.5%), and Massachusetts (-0.1%), it trailed just behind Illinois (+1.2%) and fell further behind high-growth markets like Georgia (+1.5%) and Florida (+2.8%).

Movement Into and Out of Pennsylvania Has Been Close to Home

New Jersey accounted for the largest share of lateral partner departures from Pennsylvania, attracting 31% of the state's outbound talent. The state was also the primary source of incoming talent, with 7 partners relocating to Pennsylvania over the past year.

New York was the second most popular source and destination for Partners in Pennsylvania, with 6 moving out to New York and 4 moving in from the state.
